Packaging Engineer

As a Packaging  Engineer, you are responsible for the engineering and development of all technical functions and components of Fasten’s product range. In engineering, you take into account the cost,  reliability and the makeability of the product, so that you can be sure that the final consumer has a perfectly working product in their hands.

Because it is always busy in our design department, you are able to work on multiple projects at the same time, to work under pressure and to deal with priorities that always shift.

You are responsible for the actual technical operation of the product and that’s why you are constantly sparring with our branch and production office in China to make everything run as smoothly as possible. To achieve this, you regularly travel to China to assess and deal with technical issues/challenges. You switch with our sales department continuously and are regularly taken to customers to highlight the technical side of a design. You are also responsible for checking and approving all technical drawings from the factory and providing technical support during the product introduction  to customers. In this position you work a lot and directly together with our Product Designers and you report directly to the Sales & NPD Manager.

Qualifications

As a Packaging Engineer you will be responsible for all packaging designs, both on design and technical aspects. For this we’re looking for someone who’s a true creative, not afraid to put himself out there and lead the projects. Furthermore, you would have to have:
 
  • A completed HBO or WO education in a technical design direction;
  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar role, where experience with the packaging industry is very much preferable;
  • Experience in checking and approving technical drawings;
  • A dike of perseverance. If you don’t know something, you keep looking until you have a solution;
  • Extensive material knowledge and you know all about the material properties, where knowledge of plastics is a huge plus;
  • Excellent knowledge and experience with Solid Works;
  • A good command of the English language and preferably Dutch in words and writings;
  • A proactive and creative mind that is not averse to a hands-on assignment.
